Joyful Gardening Time
Spring to Autumn
Every other Saturday
Garden Field in Surrey, BC
New Eden is a garden ministry of the Church of All Nations.
We envision practicing our belief of God’s love and redemption for all creation through gardening.
Our Mission is commitment to God’s New Creation which restores relationships with God, people, and earth.
We aim to show people our true, original calling from God to be His stewards of Creation. We also follow the Bible teaching that we share the best of our crops with the needy in our community such as those who are in homeless shelters. By doing this, we can experience the joy of sharing with others. This is a simple way to learn how we can make our communities/societies better by sharing what God has given to us. We can also learn the way of Jesus who shared everything, even His life with all of us.
Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal. - John 12:24-25 (MSG) –
= Background =
Mr. Ken Warren, our lay leader, is a professional horticulturalist and Arborist. He has been leading this gardening ministry since its inception. Through New Eden ministry, we participate in God’s redemptive work for His Creation by caring for the land of God.
Many Japanese people have become very concerned about soils, food, and the natural environment following the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011. As a community of mainly Japanese descents and with the concerns of the Japanese people in mind, the goal of New Eden Ministry is to teach others about God’s Creation, human sin and Christ’s Redemption in connection with gardening.
Japan is the only nation in history who has twice experienced atomic warfare at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Then, we are forced to face the consequences of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
The Church of All Nations humbly cherishes this ministry as our unique calling from God. We believe God calls Japanese Christians to stand for God’s redemptive work over His Creation that has been corrupted and destroyed by human sin. We are called to initiate this ministry as His stewards who have experienced destruction of our land, but not as mere victims. May God continue to develop this ministry for His Kingdom’s growth!
I believe that gardening is one of the greatest tools to come to know our true identity and mission in life. – Ken Warren –
