(Season of Creation)

Before the service

We are now at the BC restart plan step 3. However, recently, Covid case counts continue to rise in British Columbia. So, our community should continue to be cautious.

  • If you or anyone in your family feels sick stay home and get tested immediately.
  • Please continue to sit in your household groups as much as you can. Please re-arrange chairs as necessary to social distance yourselves.
  • Masks are mandatory in indoor public settings. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask even outside, please do so.

  1. When the music fades
    All is stripped away
    And I simply come
    Longing just to bring
    Something that’s of worth
    That will bless your heart
I’ll bring you more than a song
    For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
    You search much deeper within
    Through the way things appear
    You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about you
It’s all about you, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about you
It’s all about you, Jesus

  1. King of endless worth
    No one could express
    How much you deserve
    Though I’m weak and poor
    All I have is yours
    Every single breath
I’ll bring you more than a song
    For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
    You search much deeper within
    Through the way things appear
    You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
‘Cause it’s all about you
It’s all about you, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
‘Cause it’s all about you
It’s all about You, Jesus

All about you

I’ll bring you more than a song
I’ll bring you more than a song
More than a song

I’ll bring you more than a song
I’ll bring you more than a song (than a song)

You looking into my heart
Looking into my heart

You looking into my heart
Into my heart

I’ll bring you more than a song
I’ll bring you more than a song

I’ll bring you more than a song
I’ll bring you more than a song

Collect 特祷

Officiant

We are now in the season of creation. From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world celebrate the Season of Creation. During this special time each year, we remember that we are called to restore our relationships with God, each other and with all creation. Let us pray together for the collect for creation care.

All 一同:

Lord of creation, Your world reveals Your glory, Grant us eyes to see Your glory in all that You have made, from the beauty of a sunset to the pattern of a snowflake.

Give us minds to grasp something of Your purposes in creation and the humility to take our place as co-workers serving You in Your garden.

Give us hearts to love You in loving all Your works, and tenderness in nurturing life in all its fullness. Through Jesus Christ, who is alive with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.

Confession & Absolution

Let us examine ourselves and confess our sins.

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in Your will, and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your Name. Amen.

Priest

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in His great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith turn to Him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scripture Passages

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9 申命記

Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him? And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today? Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark 7:1-8.

Officiant 司式者: Glory to you, Lord Christ.

The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.[a]) So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’[b] You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

Nicene Creed

Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed.

All 一同:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Intercession and Thanksgiving (Prayers of the People) 執り成しと感謝の祈り

Eucharistic Prayer 聖餐の祈り (modified from the Common Worship)

Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.” (John 6 :35)

On the same night that He was betrayed, took bread and gave You thanks;

He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying:

Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of

In the same way, after supper, He took the cup and gave You thanks;

He gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you; this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for

you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it,

in remembrance of Me.

Therefore, we proclaim the mystery of faith:

All 一同:  Christ has died,

Christ is risen,

Christ will come again.

Heavenly Father, accept through Him, our great high priest, this our sacrifice of thanks and praise, and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of your divine majesty, renew us by your Spirit, inspire us with your love and unite us in the body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with all who stand before You in earth and heaven, we worship You, Father Almighty, in songs of everlasting praise: All honor and glory be Yours, for ever and ever. Amen

Announcements 報告

Next Sunday, we will have house worship and continue studying “Acts: witnesses” series. The Japanese speaking group will meet online from 2:00pm foe the Bible study.

This Saturday is a wrap up day for the New Eden Garden ministry this season. We will gather and clean up the garden which produced abundant vegetables and make us support meal programs for seniors in the community through Tonari-gumi, a Japanese volunteer organization and Salvation Army Home Shelter. We will start at 10:30am. We will cook cabbage rolls and salad for lunch, but it would be wonderful if you can bring some side dish or dessert to share.
