Ministry Report (New Eden)

New Eden Ministry Report                                                              Ken Warren

Review of 2020

The New Eden Ministry moved in spring 2020 from our original location in Surrey to our new home at Stella and Ken’s property in Vancouver.  We may not have been able to initially understand all the blessings that this move would have on our people, but soon witnessed God’s perfect timing as we began New Eden Vancouver.

The public health orders and restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic dramatically changed the way we were able to carry out this ministry, however the benefits of having this garden ministry soon outweighed any shortcomings.

We are very blessed by Stella and Ken as they offered the use of their beautiful garden and cabana for our ministry.  The garden was established and already had essential infrastructure in place such as a washroom, irrigation, electricity, and ample gathering spaces.

We were not able to ‘officially’ use New Eden as a gathering place due to Covid-19 restrictions.  This however opened so many new ways for people to use the garden as a place for personal retreat, reflection and to praise God for the joy of His creation.

Plans for 2021

We anticipate that health orders will continue to be in place for the 2021 season but plan to do everything possible to reach out to others and share the love of God and his beautiful creation with those in the community.

We will continue with garden renovations, improvements to irrigation systems, removal of garden debris and completion of cabana renovations.  New Eden Vancouver will continue to grow and develop as an inspirational network to our neighbours and the community.

Soohwan, one of the New Eden Foundation’s directors, has taken on the daunting task of applying for charitable status for New Eden.  We are hopeful that we might receive this status over the upcoming year.

We continue to look for opportunities to fulfil our vision of the Garden-hub-house model for New Eden.  Some of our church members took part in the ‘Housing conference’ in November 2020.  This has stimulated us to look more closely at how we can use our God given gifts and resources to purchase and develop a house or property for this outreach ministry.

We thank all our volunteers, youth and church members for their time, prayers, and financial support of our ‘very unique’ garden ministry.

In Christ,

Ken Warren
